Dave Davignon

The Edey & Duff family of owners, employees and customers are deeply saddened by the sudden passing of David Davignon on December 14, 2009. All have lost a trusted leader, a respected professional and a true friend.

Hired as a fiberglass technician in 1970, Dave worked on all the early products -- the Stone Horse, Dovekie and Shearwater -- and he was central to introducing the Doughdish, Stuart Knockabout, Conch 27, Sakonnet 23, Fatty Knees and Beetle Whale Boat. Dave’s unique style of leadership and personal touch contributed greatly to preserving and enhancing the proud tradition of quality workmanship, customer satisfaction and famously seaworthy boats.

As General Manager, Dave successfully guided Edey & Duff through the years. He not only directed the boat-building operations and managed the skilled craftsmen, he interfaced with customers during the sale process and coordinated service after the sale. Most recently, he was reviewing new additions to the product line and was working with Harding Boat Works to negotiate long term leases to secure the future of the venerable Aucoot Cove facility.

Kathy Harding, President of Harding Boat Works, will assume responsibility as General Manager with the assistance from newly appointed Sales Director, Dave Foynes and Business Manager, Michele Ford. Ed Pavaao will continue his role as shop foreman. "Dave had a great memory. He learned, he remembered and he passed it on", said Ed Pavao, who had worked closely with Dave since 1973.

Dave touched us all and will be greatly missed. Quality products and devoted customers are his legacy. Harding Boat Works and the proud craftsmen at Edey & Duff are dedicated to ensuring that his legacy endures.
